BELLEVUE, Wash. Feb. 1, 2012 - Laplink Software, Inc. today announced the newest in device connectivity technology through a collaboration with Intel ®’s My WiFi Technology and Laplink’s new product, Laplink Sync™.

This new technology collaboration is the first undertaking of its kind, leveraging Intel’s My WiFi Technology, which is based on industry standard Wi-Fi Direct™, with Laplink’s industry leading synchronization software. Intel My WiFi Technology enables a personal area network allowing multiple devices to connect without the need of an access point or Internet connectivity, allowing users to sync and share data with multiple devices in a peer-to-peer relationship within that personal area network.

“Users no longer have to worry about Internet access or being on the same network to connect devices, share files and synchronize data,” commented Laplink CEO Thomas Koll. “Laplink has always been a leader in file transfer and synchronization technology and this new collaboration is a continuation and extension of that leadership. Intel’s technology enables some very exciting user scenarios and we are pleased to partner with them on this project.”

The combination of Intel and Laplink technology creates an easy and seamless sync solution between PCs, smartphones and tablets that goes beyond the traditional network.  No longer will users be required to have all of their devices connected to the same network or even have an Internet connection, which in the case of a corporate network isn’t always possible.

“With Intel My WiFi Technology and Laplink Sync, people will have new and compelling ways to use their devices and keep them connected, driving more continuity between multiple devices and platforms than ever before.” explained Alex Quach, Director of Intel Wireless Product Marketing.

In order to integrate Intel’s technology and provide the best synchronization experience possible, Laplink has developed a new sync product branded simply Laplink Sync. It goes beyond Laplink’s traditional PC platform, extending to Mac, Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Laplink Sync includes Laplink’s patented sync technologies SpeedSync ® and SmartXchange ®, which allow users to perform the quickest and most efficient synchronizations possible.

“Laplink Sync is the best option for users of multiple devices because it runs natively on each device and connects peer-to-peer,” added Koll. “Laplink Sync is fast, safe and secure. It doesn’t confine users to only using external storage in the cloud or independent sync folders on the PC. Instead, users will have direct control over what is synced without files being duplicated in other locations. A future release will include Cloud Sync and the user will continue to have the option on where the sync will occur – either directly to the device or to the cloud.”

Laplink Sync will be released in the first half of 2012. More information will be made available at www.laplink.com as the release date approaches.
